    Museum of the History of Science

    After gazing at the superb architecture of the building, stroll into the museum to see an excellent exhibit of navigational, astronomical, and mathematical instruments. One of the largest collections of astrolabes lay inside, as well as various scientific equipment. Pre-booked guided tours are available.

    The Ashmolean

    This museum of art and archaeology opened in 1683 and has the distinction of being Britian's oldest public museum. Inside the picturesque building you will find various collections, including antiquities, eastern and western art, and a cast gallery. The Ashmolean is closed Mondays and major holidays.

    The Bate Collection of Musical Instruments

    The collection at Bates is comprised of historical woodwind, brass and percussion instruments, as well as historical keyboard instruments and bows. The museum is located in the Faculty of Music, next to Christ Church College Oxford. Closed during major holidays.
